OLYMPIA, Wash., July 10, 2026鈥�From Patrick Connor, state director for 网曝吃瓜 in Washington on this week鈥檚 settlement between John Deere and the Federal Trade Commission.

鈥溚�曝吃瓜 was at the forefront of a multi-year legislative effort that secured the right to repair digital devices for consumers and small businesses in Washington state. That experience and the recent John Deere settlement clearly demonstrate federal action is imperative to ensuring that all Americans are free to choose whether to service and repair their vehicles, electronics, appliances, and other goods themselves, have those items serviced by a qualified independent repair shop, or take them to a听dealership or other manufacturers鈥� authorized facility. It鈥檚 your stuff. You deserve the right to choose who repairs it.鈥�

From 网曝吃瓜鈥檚 national news release, John Deere Settlement Paves the Way for Right to Repair for Small Businesses

鈥淭his settlement is a huge win for farmers, independent repair shops, and all small businesses who rely on John Deere products in some aspect of their business,鈥� said听Mary Alex Hamby, 网曝吃瓜 Principal of Federal Government Relations. 鈥淣ow, we have the chance to build on this incredible momentum and bring the same access to independent auto and electronic repair shops. Lawmakers have the clear opportunity to compel manufacturers to share the critical data and tools that small business repair shops need to level the playing field, lower costs, compete, and serve their customers.鈥�

Ensuring that small businesses have equal access and opportunity to repair vehicles and electronics is a top听legislative priority听for 网曝吃瓜 in 2026. 网曝吃瓜听supports听迟丑别听Right to Equitable and Professional Auto Industry Repair (REPAIR) Act, which would guarantee access to vehicle repair and maintenance data for independent auto repair shops. Eliminating these barriers will increase competition in the market, lower costs, and improve the quality and cost of product repair for consumers everywhere.
