ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï worked with the General Assembly to protect Missouri’s small businesses from predatory trial attorneys

Small business owners statewide have received demand letters from predatory trial attorneys, claiming their websitesÌýdon’tÌýcomply withÌýthe Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and demanding thousands of dollars in settlements.Ìý

No officialÌýADA compliance requirementsÌýfor websites exist, yet these attorneys are demanding settlements of up to $15,000 – knowing small businesses will often settle as quickly as possible to protect their reputation and avoid mounting costs.Ìý

It’sÌýwrongÌýfor predatory trial attorneys to use the transformative work of the ADA against small business owners. These shake-down lawsuits are just the latest example of the legal abuse Main Street Missourians face.Ìý

That’sÌýwhy ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï championed SB 907, which aims to stop trial attorneys’ attempts to force a settlement without allowing the business to resolve the issue.ÌýThe bill passed the General Assembly unanimouslyÌýandÌýwas signed into law by Governor Kehoe.
